Speaker

The overall width of the 162 is slightly larger than other pianos of similar size. This maximizes the speaker surface area, enhancing bass along with the overall sound. The speaker is constructed from spruce and includes additional features designed to improve stability in climatic conditions.

Frame Design

The 162 model features a redesigned, lightweight chassis design. This allows for less sound absorption, which is particularly noticeable in the treble, creating a bright and clear sound.

Strings

The strings for this particular model were designed by Stephen Paulello and are rust-resistant! They are nickel-plated, creating a consistent and clear sound for many years.

Double-sided scaling

The strings on this model use bidirectional scaling, meaning the strings resonate sympathetically with each note struck, adding brilliance and sparkle to the high-frequency ranges.

Basic action

The special Feurich key action sets this piano apart from other pianos of its size. No plastic is used anywhere in the action, as it is not flexible enough to provide the tactile feel and response that Feurich is looking for. A small amount of lead is used inside the key itself, resulting in very low inertia when the key is pressed. This offers a wide dynamic range, including effortless pianissimo.

Felt

Feurich puts a lot of time and thought into the felts it chooses for each specific model. On the 162, the felts under the keys are impregnated with a substance that helps them retain their shape over many years of use. The felts inside the machine are durable and hard-wearing.
