When Ian Martin Allison came to the table with the idea for a signature set of Super Polished strings, he was already in love with the base formula — that punchy stainless steel tone with the smooth glide of flats. But as a busy session and touring bassist, he needed a few tweaks to match his playing world.

So we fine-tuned the gauges, left a bit more grit on the outer wrap, and gave him custom pink and grey silk ends for a touch of flair. The result? A set of strings that feels buttery like flats but still sings with that roundwound edge. After months on the road with them, Ian’s verdict:
