Strymon PCH X1 Active DI-Box – Phantom-powered and transformer-isolated
When you stick most “premium” DI boxes on a proper analyser, the results can be… eye‑opening. Plenty of units that promise studio‑grade magic actually fall apart where it matters most — especially down low, or when you look at total harmonic distortion. Strip away the tech talk and it’s simple: a lot of DI boxes just don’t treat your sound with the respect it deserves.
The Strymon PCH X1 is a totally different beast. This phantom‑powered, transformer‑isolated active DI has been built with one thing at the top of the list: absolutely pristine audio. Whatever you feed into it — bass, keys, guitars, synths, you name it — the X1 handles your signal with total confidence. While other DI boxes can squash or smear low frequencies, the PCH X1 stays ruler‑flat from a ridiculous 10Hz all the way up to 80kHz, within half a dB.
Built to survive the real world
But the X1 isn’t just about great tone, it’s built for real‑world use too. The 3 mm extruded aluminium chassis feels utterly bombproof, ready for life on loud stages, quiet studios and everything in between. It’s compact enough to fit anywhere and tough enough to survive the gig bag life.
Custom transformers, smart tools, zero nonsense
Each channel runs through a custom transformer to keep ground loops at bay and give you proper galvanic isolation. You also get a ground lift per channel and a three‑position high‑pass filter — 80Hz for tidying up rumble and 240Hz when you really need to carve out space in a busy mix.
Flexible routing for any setup
And for flexible routing, the X1 includes a non‑buffered Thru out alongside the balanced XLR. Perfect if you want to feed an onstage amp or monitor while sending a pristine balanced signal to front of house or your interface.
Features:
- Custom audio transformer per channel.
- Runs on phantom power (each channel requires power).
- Ground Lift Switch per channel.
- Three-position high pass filter on each input.
- Defeatable Sum feature merges the Left and Right inputs and sends them to the Left outputs.
- Extremely flat frequency response.
- Extremely low total harmonic distortion (THD).
- Thick 3 mm extruded aluminium shell with 5 mm ribs for bulletproof protection.
- Shell awning design protects switches while allowing easy access.
- High-quality, long-life jacks and switches.
